Thomas B. Kane

Managing Partner & Estate Planning Lawyer

As the Managing Partner of Kane, Hartley, & Kane, Thomas B. Kane has anchored his practice in Glastonbury, Connecticut, since joining the firm in 1996. He believes that while a home is often a client's largest investment, planning for their family is their largest worry. Tom helps clients navigate the complexities of life, one milestone at a time.

Expertise in Estate Planning and Probate

Tom has built his practice around helping clients navigate the complexities of Estate Planning and Probate Administration.

My Philosophy

When families face important legal decisions, experience matters.

Since becoming a Connecticut attorney in 1995, I have spent more than thirty years helping families with estate planning, probate administration, and residential real estate. As a partner at Kane, Hartley & Kane, P.C. in Glastonbury, I help clients protect their families, plan for the future, and navigate life's major transitions with clarity and confidence.

My goal is simple: explain the law in plain English, remove the confusion, and help clients make informed decisions without pressure or unnecessary complexity.

I learned that approach from my father, who was my mentor, employer, and eventually my law partner. For more than twenty years, we practiced together at Kane, Hartley & Kane. He taught me that knowing the law matters, but earning a client's trust matters even more.

Over the years, I have seen the difference good planning can make. The right estate plan can help families avoid unnecessary probate, reduce conflict, protect children, preserve family relationships, and make difficult moments a little easier. Poor planning—or no planning at all—can do the opposite.

That experience has shaped one belief I share with every client: estate planning is not about preparing for death. It is about making life easier for the people you love.

Outside the office, I am a husband, father, runner, cyclist, and outdoor enthusiast. Those roles remind me why planning matters and help me understand the concerns families bring into my office.

Whether you are creating your first estate plan, updating old documents, administering an estate, or buying or selling a home, my commitment is the same: clear advice, practical solutions, and personal service that helps you move forward with confidence.
